DocEx Government Sessions – Part 1


One of the most popular conference sessions at SDW, the DocEx Knowledge Exchange is designed for secure document designers, examination experts and issuance authorities from around the world. In this private government-only setting, attendees are able to explore some of the challenges they face, understand new global document fraud trends, and share their experiences in a supportive environment.
 

Biography
Paul Alty is a Specialist Document Examiner within the National Document Fraud Unit (NDFU), where he detects and reports upon forged and counterfeit identity documents and presents in court as an expert witness. Paul has provided expert document examination support for high-profile and high-security risk environments such as at The Royal Household and political party conferences. Paul has represented the UK at two FRONTEX events in Slovenia and Portugal, contributing to the design and development of the Reference Manual tool. In his training capacity, Paul was tasked with assessing and up-skilling the forgery capability of the specialist document laboratory in Dubai. Additionally, Paul has previously delivered seminars at Security Document World, the Pan-European High Security Print Conference in Milan and Connect:ID in Washington DC.
In 2013 Paul attained a Master of Science degree in Questioned Identity Document examination, specialising in counterfeiting using commercial products and how confirmation bias can affect an examiner’s opinion.
